Infrastructure overview
The redundant infrastructure behind FXVPS
A VPS depends on more than computing performance. Power, connectivity, servers and data storage each have a role to play. This overview explains how the FXVPS infrastructure incorporates provisions for equipment failures across those layers.
Understand the infrastructure through its roles
The network carries connections to the service, servers run the VPS workloads, and storage holds their data. Power equipment supports their operation. Understanding these roles explains the design more clearly than a list of equipment names.

What each layer contributes
Separating the components covered by redundancy from the purpose of that redundancy helps make infrastructure design understandable.
Power
Supports the electrical supply needed to operate equipment.
UPS and emergency backup generator equipment protect the power supply.
Provides for interruptions to the normal power supply.
Network
Connects the VPS with users and connection destinations.
Routers and switches have a redundant configuration.
Provides for equipment failures in the network infrastructure.
Servers
Provide the execution platform on which VPS workloads run.
Servers have a redundant configuration on an HA-capable platform.
Provides for failures in the server infrastructure supporting the VPS.
Storage
Provides the infrastructure that holds VPS data.
Storage has a redundant configuration.
Provides for equipment failures in the data storage infrastructure.
Power infrastructure upgrade
August 2026An emergency backup generator with greater capacity
During a power outage, power is switched over to the emergency backup generator while the UPS continues to supply power.
In August 2026, we replaced the emergency backup generator with a higher-capacity unit. This equipment upgrade forms part of the power protection supporting our VPS infrastructure.
Read the provisions for failure layer by layer
Power protection serves a different purpose from provisions for a failed network device or server. When choosing a service, consider the infrastructure design alongside its operating conditions.
| Layer | Purpose of the provision | What to review alongside it |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Protects the supply against power interruptions. | Application monitoring and recovery have roles separate from power protection. |
| Network | Provides for network equipment failures. | The user's connection and the destination system also affect communication. |
| Servers | Provides for failures in the platform running the VPS. | Service-specific recovery procedures and coverage define the operating scope. |
| Storage | Provides for data storage equipment failures. | Returning to an earlier state is the role of backups or other recovery tools. |
Redundancy and backups have distinct roles
Provisions for equipment and platform failures
Redundancy is a configuration intended to address equipment or platform failures. Identifying the layer a provision covers helps explain how the service is supported.
Return to a previously captured state
A backup provides a way to restore a state captured at an earlier point in time. Creating the recovery points you need and understanding the restore procedure are also part of operational preparation.
HA describes a capability of the infrastructure. Review the plan description, SLA and terms of service for each service's coverage and recovery provisions.
